Lockdown: Lagos State Police Arrest Funke Akindele, Ask Naira Marley To Report Self

The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, has confirmed this in a statement on Sunday.

The Police PRO revealed that the actress was arrested for violating the restriction orders in the state as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The state government restricted social gatherings in the state to not more than 20 people, and as well urged residents to maintain social distancing.

According to the federal government, the Lockdown order affects churches, mosques, weddings, and other forms of social function that can attract crowd.

In a bid to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari had declared a lockdown in Lagos, Ogun States and the Federal Capital Territory Fct.

The President, however, exempted persons on essential service from the lockdown which would last 14 days.

On Sunday, Elkana the state police PRO said in a statement that the Lagos State Police Command noted a viral video showing a number of persons mainly.

He also stated that the crowd was celebrating a birthday party organised by a popular actress Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello – popularly known as JJC Skillz.

The command’s spokesman also said that police detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Yaba were promptly drafted to the location where the actress was arrested.

He also revealed that the police had commenced investigation while making efforts to arrest other persons that were identified in the video.

The police PRO Elkana said, singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley and JJC Skillz were among those seen at the party.

He asked the duo to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April 2020 in their interest or risk being declared wanted.

Funke Akindele, was attacked by some Twitter users for her action, has since tendered a video of apology.
