BREAKING: CBN, Bankers Committee Agrees to Suspends Bank Staffs Say-off

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the bankers Committee has reached an agreement to suspend the lay-off plans of bank staffs in the country as a result of the negative impact of the global pandemic on economy.

This was revealed in a statement by the director of the apex bank on Saturday, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor.

The Committee focused on the issue of the operating costs of banks in view of the impact emanating from the global economic difficulties.

Some banks had come up with the idea of reducing their staffs as they plan to re-open their operations.

In order to help reduce the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on families and livelihoods, no bank in Nigeria shall retrench or sack any of its staff of any cadre including permanent and temporary staff.
