BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu Commission a 118 Bed Isolation Centre in Lagos |Dosoflux

As COVID-19 cases in Lagos State nears 1000, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commission a new 118-bed Isolation Center in the Gbagada area of the state on Friday the 1st of May 2020.

The isolation facility adds to the number of Isolation Centres the state has, increasing the capacity for managing the novel coronavirus in the state.

During the inauguration of the new facility, Mr Sanwo-Olu, The Governor of lagos state said it would be manned by professionals volunteer health workers, trained in infection prevention, control and coronavirus case management.

This makes a total of 5 isolation and treatment centres in lagos state with a total number 558 bed capacity.

Previously the state government inaugurated a 70 bed isolation and treatment facility at Eti-Osa local government, and  another 110-bed facility was commissioned at Onikan.

Ealier the state government has announced its partnership with the private sector in the treatment and management of coronavirus cases, and licensed the First Cardiology Consultants Hospital in Ikoyi which is a private hospital managing coronavirus cases.

However the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, had earlier in April said at a press conference that plans to have more facilities are in view.

The Commissioner stated the state will make available an Isolation and Treatment Centre with 150 bed capacity at the Infectious Disease Hospital Yaba and an additional 300 bed capacity permanent facility within that premises, making a total of 450 bed capacity facility in view.
