FG Begins Distribution Of Food To School Children In FCT.

Today, the modified school feeding programme under Coronavirus will commence in Abuja.  29,609 Take Home Rations will be distributed to parents and guardians of children.

The FG is funding the programme which will run in all 36 states across Nigeria, starting from the FCT then Lagos and Ogun before other states. The states will implement the program to ensure proper distribution.

The Federal Ministry Of Humanitarian and Affairs made this known via its Twitter handle "In times of crisis hunger is the first byproduct. Cognizant of that fact the FG is giving relief to families of primary 1-3 children through the National Home Grown School Programme in line SDG 2 - which commits to end hunger in all its forms by 2030 & to achieve food security".

The initiative will impact 3,131,971 households across the country. The only difference is that instead of children getting cooked meals in school their parents and guardians would be given raw food items.

This school feeding programme by giving out 15 eggs per beneficiary is providing much needed patronage for poultry farmers in Nigeria.

The FG is providing funding while the each states are expected to implement with the support and collaboration of the World Food Programme providing a commendable Technical support.
